Inspired by campfires deep in the forest from a lifetime of outdoor memories . . .
Bursts of sound, bits of melody. 'Orchestra Tuning' is confirmation that there is a suspenseful sort of music in the cacophony of an orchestra in the readying process, with a powerful symphony about to be born! Mixed media on heavy watercolour paper, approx. 11 x 15 inches (approx. 28 x 38 cm).
'Tumbling mirth' is a phrase used by a family member who was a poet, John Gillespie Magee Jr. This painting is in his honour. Perhaps it is a mountain stream at dawn tumbling over ancient rocks, glistening in the morning light . . . Acrylic and charcoal on heavy watercolour paper, framed in natural oak
'Sonoran Summer' harks back to very happy beach holidays in Mexico. The location of the canyon near the beach where palm trees grow wild and we bathed in a natural waterfall is a secret! The vibrancy of that place fills this painting. Approx. 11 x 15 inches (approx. 28 x 38 cm), acrylic and charcoal on heavy watercolour paper.
Painting sold - available as a print only
Acrylic, charcoal and graphite on heavy watercolour paper, 12 x 12 in (approx. 30.5 x 30.5 cm).
There is a walk along the sea cliffs near Arbroath, Scotland, that leads to a spot where a great chine has carved itself inland from the sea. The birds wheel and soar in the chine, and it is a magnificent place. Acrylic and ink on heavy watercolour paper, unframed.
This wonderful ecstatic creature insisted on appearing in what I thought would be a purely abstract painting, right after a beach walk in which I had shared the joy of the cavorting dogs! acrylic and ink on heavy watercolour paper, unframed. Greeting cards and giclee prints also available.
Rembrandt's masterful understanding of light and shadow was the inspiration for this acrylic painting. SOLD This image is available as a silk scarf and as a greeting card.
